5 tips for a successful start to the 2023 school year

As every year, the start of the 2023 school year will mark an important milestone in your child’s life. Who will their teacher be? Will their friends be in their class? Not to mention the stress associated with starting kindergarten or transitioning to high school! The following five tips will help the whole family prepare for a successful start to the school year.

 

1. Don’t lose your shirt!

First and foremost, plan ahead. Don’t wait until the last minute, as it will be much harder to find school supplies, clothes , and all those other little things you need for your child or children. Plus, in your haste, you risk missing out on good deals and having to spend more money…

Buying clothes, shoes, backpacks and school supplies is part of the back-to-school preparations.

During the school year, outings such as sports centers and activities help young people to reconnect.

4. Establish a routine

A well-established routine helps young people feel secure and manage their time effectively. Create a daily schedule that includes time for homework, leisure activities, meals, and sleep. The better you prepare your child, the easier the start of the school year will be.

 

5. Communicate positively

Your attitude towards the start of the school year will influence your child’s. Even if your relationship with school hasn’t always been positive, emphasize its importance and its positive aspects. Encourage them to express their emotions and show understanding towards their anxieties. If needed, don’t hesitate to ask for help from the other parent or a professional.

Maintain your balance

This isn’t advice, but a word of encouragement for parents. Well done for investing yourselves in your children’s success and development. Well done for juggling work, home , meals , and entertainment . After all that whirlwind, you’ll have certainly earned a moment of relaxation just for yourselves!

There’s no point in rushing…

And yes, you can take a break from dinner occasionally and treat yourself to a nice meal at a restaurant . More rested, you’ll be able to accompany your child more calmly on the first day of school in 2023!
